Robert Pearlman | SpaceX recently debuted for sale a new desktop model of its Falcon 9 rocket. The roughly 1:100 scale plastic model stands 32 inches (80 centimeters) tall on its magnetic base and includes both a Dragon V2 (Crew Dragon) and fairing that can be swapped out for display. The grid fins and legs do not deploy. A few detail shots:

Ronpur | It looks to have the general shapes right, especially the Crew Dragon. But it does look to be missing a few details, like conduits, and other items. The markings aren't accurate either, unless this is a Block 5 and that will change on those. I suppose that is the idea behind a decktop model? |
GACspaceguy | Desktop or contractor models typically do not have that much detail. This one is very good in my opinion especially at the $140 price point of the first offering. |
Ronpur | That is what I thought. I better stay away from it then. I would add detail and repaint it with new decals if I got a hold of it! LOL |
dsenechal | Just got mine today. Overall, it's a very nice model. Reminds me a lot of the old Topping Models. |
NASA Glenn | It is a very impressive display model. Maybe someone will make some payload displays to fit under the shroud, or some conversion parts to make the Falcon Heavy? |
dsenechal | I was also pondering making a Falcon Heavy out of this. Looks like all a person would really need is buy two more Falcon 9 models, cut off the upper sections and make a couple of nose cones. That's over-simplifying, but I think it is very do-able. Also seems like a nice opportunity for some of our very talented 3D designers. |
moonguyron | Anybody know who is doing this model? Last I knew, through an agreement with SpaceX, Nick Proach was the only one licensed to build models of SpaceX hardware. Am I wrong? |
Robert Pearlman | Nick Proach remains the only third-party licensed model maker. This desktop model was made for SpaceX and is only available from them. |
SpaceCadet1983 | Does anyone have any idea where I might purchase stickers/decals to convert my SpaceX F9 model's blank fairing into to one for the X-37B OTV-5 mission? Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated! |

SpaceX has now released a Falcon Heavy version of the model for $205: FH Display Model + Stand. Includes both Dragon 2 spacecraft and payload Fairing (Interchangable).

garyd2831 | Have one and it cool as heck!!! Only issue is they didn't increase the magnet strength so its easy to knock the model off the stand. Otherwise awesome!!!
|
Philip | Very nice models indeed! |
Space Maven | The SpaceX Falcon Heavy desktop display model (1:100) is no longer available at the SpaceX store. Only the Falcon 9 desktop display model is available. I noticed that the Falcon Heavy display model was no longer available not long after it was offered. Fortunately, I was able to buy it before it was gone. |
